I've already mentioned this elsewhere but just in case you hadn't heard, the longlists for the 2017 David Gemmell awards are up. I'm up for a Legend award for THE MALICE (for best novel) and Jaime Jones is up for a Ravenheart (for best cover).
Voting is free and only takes a couple of clicks. Here's the link if you want to get started.
Now whatever you think of my writing, I hope you'd agree that the cover for THE MALICE is fab and deserves some love. It features two suns, two swords, two women and a baby goat. What's not to love?
And don't forget to show some love for the Morningstar award for best debut too!
Specifically, The Vagrant is eligible for the Morningstar award for best debut and the Ravenheart for best cover art (by the wonderful Jaime Jones).
There's also the mighty Legend award which is well worth a look and has a lot of impressive titles on it this year.
Voting is easy and free, and you can vote once in each category. Simply go to The Gemmell Award's website and click away.
Voting closes on 24th of June and the shortlists go up on Friday the 8th of July.
The Vagrant is eligible for awards this year!
It’s already made the BSFA* Long list for best novel (YAY! :D). Members are voting at the moment to decide the shortlist. If you’re a member and want to vote, the link is here.
Voting is also open for the British Fantasy Awards where it’s eligible for:
Best Fantasy Novel
Best Artist (Jaime Jones for the cover art)
If you’re a BFS member or if you went to FantasyCon 2015 or if you’re going to FantasyCon 2016, you can vote. Please vote! You get three choices in each category and if you're not sure what's out there, suggestions can be found here.
I’d also like to put in a mention for Tea and Jeopardy podcast. We came second in the Hugos last year and if we did win, I can guarantee Latimer would keep the Rocket in mint condition.

3rd May 2016 – The Vagrant Paperback and e-book (US)**
19th May 2016 – The Malice Hardback and e-book (UK)***
To work off some of this festive padding. To see much more of my friends. To spend less time getting cross with TV shows and films. To read more books. *whispers* to get on some award shortlists.

**Please tell everyone about this, especially if you know any Americans who were miffed at not being able to get a copy.
***Jaime Jones is doing the cover again and I CANNOT WAIT for you all to see it!

On Friday the cover for The Vagrant went up on the wonderful Fantasy Faction. I've been absolutely delighted with the response and I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the incredibly talented Jamie Jones for doing such a fine job. Jaime has done work for an amazing list of clients, including: Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Bungie, NCSoft, Blizzard, National Geographic, Penguin books and Harper Voyager.
I must admit I had a little squee when I found out he'd worked on some of the concept art for Destiny.
It's well worth paying a visit to his blog.
So thanks, Jaime. You (and your art) are awesome!
If you haven't yet popped over to Fantasy Faction, they've got a wonderful article there about the Vagrant and a competition to win an ARC. But hurry, time is running out (at time of writing you have about 4 days left)!
