The Malice: UK & US publications, deals, and giveaways!

A quick bit of book news:

The Malice comes out in paperback in the US and the UK next week! 7th March in the US and 9th in the UK.

There's a goodreads giveaway for US readers only .

And for UK readers, it's only £1.99 on amazon until the end of the month.

It also got a fab write up from Barnes and Noble on their best SFF books in March 2017 roundup.

And as I may have mentioned once or *cough* twice, it's on the longlist for the David Gemmell Legend and Ravenheart awards which you can vote on for free here.

Tea and Jeopardy 62 – A chat with Chris Lunt

In this episode, the splendid screenwriter, Chris Lunt, visits Emma in the tea lair. They discuss screenwriting, breaking into industries, ‘overnight’ successes and the benefits of beards.

The Malice is longlisted for a Gemmell Legend and Ravenheart award

I've already mentioned this elsewhere but just in case you hadn't heard, the longlists for the 2017 David Gemmell awards are up. I'm up for a Legend award for THE MALICE (for best novel) and Jaime Jones is up for a Ravenheart (for best cover).

Voting is free and only takes a couple of clicks. Here's the link if you want to get started.

Now whatever you think of my writing, I hope you'd agree that the cover for THE MALICE is fab and deserves some love. It features two suns, two swords, two women and a baby goat. What's not to love?

And don't forget to show some love for the Morningstar award for best debut too!

It's 2017: Books! Dates! Award Eligibility! Cake!

Okay, I admit it. I pretty much added cake to the title because I wanted you to read the post. But fear not! There will be cake of some sort at the launch event for THE SEVEN, which I will post about in due course.

Award Eligibility

This is nice and simple. Bookwise, The Malice is my only eligible work, and short storywise (or novellawise, if we're being precise) it's The Hammer and the Goat. Job done!

Oh, and the Tea and Jeopardy Podcast is still eligible for podcasty type awards (like the Best Fancast Hugo).

Books coming out in 2017

The Vagrant and The City (Novelette, ebook): 23rd Feb
This is set between books 2 and 3 of The Vagrant trilogy. It isn't required reading as such* but it forms a bridge between the two books and gives you an extra hit of the Vagrant, for those of you who want to know what he does next.

The Malice (UK Paperback): 9th March
A smaller, softer, perfectly formed version of The Malice.

The Malice (US paperback release): 7th March

The Seven (UK Hardback): 20th April
The third and final book of the trilogy! There will be some kind of launch in London hopefully involving cake, wine, doodles, hugs** and no loud music!

*But I'd really like it if you did read it.
**Optional.

Pete's 2016

2016 was weird. In terms of global and national news (which I'm not going to talk about here, I promise!) it was one of the worst I can remember and yet for me, personally and professionally, it was an excellent year.

Books that happened:

The Vagrant (US release)
The Vagrant (UK Paperback)
Landfall (Albion Online novel)
The Malice (UK Hardback)

A novellette that happened:

The Hammer and the Goat (ebook)

Other cool things:

This one! (Photo by Annie Czajkowski)

The Vagrant was shortlisted for a British Fantasy Award and it won the David Gemmell Morningstar Award for best newcomer! Which on its own was wonderful but also led to my favourite picture being taken.

I was also pretty chuffed about this:

(For The Vagrant)

And, those lovely folks at Harper Voyager picked up my new trilogy, The Deathless. The first book will appear sometime in 2018 and I will talk more about this in the future…

Mushy moment

People continued to be generally lovely throughout the year, in person and online. And given the things we're not talking about here, I wanted to say how important that was to me. Looking forward to spending more time with you all in 2017!
