The Seven is launched!

I had a great night! Cupcakes were eaten, wine was drunk, and books were signed. THE SEVEN is now officially launched. Massive thanks to everyone who came and made it such a lovely event. Thanks also to Juliet Mushens for ably hosting, Felicity Denham for organising, Waterstones Piccadilly for looking after us, and Victoria's Kitchen for the fantastic cupcakes.

You can't see them in this picture, but Juliet's shoes were excellent.

No cupcake was left uneaten.

Waterstones did a top job with the displays.

I also managed to get to the fabulous Goldsboro Books to sign the special edition and a few extra copies.

And, the first reviews are in!

'With The Seven, Peter Newman brings the Vagrant's story to a triumphant close.' – A Fantastical Librarian

'All in all, The Seven is the perfect ending in a series that doesn't only stand out, but may as well be the starting point in a new trope of fantasy.' – BookNest

'It’s no mean feat for the ending of a trilogy to make you want to buy the first book all over again.' – Fantasy Faction

'There’s some absolutely storming battle scenes, kinetically, gracefully, bloodily and uncompromisingly written. There’s scenes of love and affection to warm the heart, and some betrayals which threaten to break it.  This is a story of a world being brought together, and of different visions for the way that world will rebuild. It’s complicated, captivating stuff – but Newman’s liquid prose makes it a great read.' – Sci-Fi and Fantasy Reviews

'This book is not going down without a fight (well a few) and I was wolfing them up.' – Dark-Readers

'…its bold, intelligent and creative fiction with a great story and even greater cast – absolutely fantastic.' – SF Book

'… I dare any reader to not enjoy and not be utterly drawn in by his world and the people who inhabit it.' – Parmenion Books

For those of you wondering, I did manage to eat one myself. Dignity was a small price to pay. Lovely!

It also got a fab write up from Barnes and Noble on their best SFF books in March 2017 roundup.

In case I didn't mention it, The Malice (book 2 in The Vagrant Series) was launched last week. There was a blog tour that included:

a guest post on Fantasy Book Reviews on Disability in Fantasy

a review of the book and a chance to win copies at Dark Readers

Another review at SF Book Reviews

A guest post at Fantasy Faction about building your own Frankenstein's Fantasy Author (featuring Myke Cole's arms)

-And an extract of the book plus review at Parmenion Books (Which was very interesting to me as they hadn't read The Vagrant first.)

Signing at Goldsboro (it's hard being a leftie!)

I also went and signed books at Goldsboro, Forbidden Planet and Waterstones.

Phew!

And then there was the launch itself. Thanks to all the lovely people who came for cakes, chat and cocktails. I have to give a special mention to Emma, who did a superb job making the 'in conversation with' section fun and engaging. I'd also like to thank Charlie and the staff at Waterstones Covent Garden for looking after us, and Fliss from Harper Voyager for making it all happen. And, of course, a big thanks to Sim for my new goat!

But perhaps the star of the night was The Malice Cupcakes! Big thanks to Victoria's Kitchen for really exceeding my expectations on all fronts. This led to some excellent cake selfies appearing on Twitter and Facebook.

I had an absolutely brilliant time, so good in fact it took me several days to recover!

There now follows pictures…
